University Of Cincinnati Stroke Team

The Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Stroke Team is one of the largest stroke teams in the nation and provides acute stroke care to seventeen different hospitals in the region. The treating physician members of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Stroke Team include seven stroke neurologists, three emergency medicine physicians, and three neuro-interventionists. The team also has research coordinators/nurses, cerebrovascular neurosurgeons, basic scientists, geneticists, a pharmacist, and three biostatisticians. The team trains two to four stroke fellows per year in emergency medicine and vascular neurology. The one to two year training program includes course work and extensive hands-on experience in clinical research as well as unique training in the evaluation and treatment of patients with acute stroke. Fellows gain extensive experience with acute ischemic stroke and ICH in the emergency department setting.
